Second and Final appearance of the year at the 2.25 mile Road Atlanta

Braselton , Ga. – The MINI of Charleston Racing team made its second and final appearance of the year at the 2.25 mile Road Atlanta race track, north of Atlanta . MINI of Charleston driver Robbie Davis drove the team’s 2005 MINI Cooper S to victory from the pole position. Saturday Robbie qualified on the pole position, but was followed closely by the Pontiac Solstice of Charles Guest and the 2006 MINI Cooper S of Jill Urso. After holding off the charge of the Solstice mid-race, Robbie was able to build a slight lead and finish 8 seconds ahead of Guest. Urso finished third, to place two MINI S of Charleston cars on the podium.

“The car felt perfect the entire race” said Robbie Davis. “Carbotech makes a great brake pad that allowed us to go deep into the turns every lap.” Braking is always a challenge in the Showroom Stock B Class, as the stock braking system used on every car sold on the showroom is pressed way beyond its design requirements. The only allowable change is going to a harder racing compound brake pad material.

With a single point lead for the SouthEast Division points, Robbie and Jill head to Pooler, Georgia at the end of the month for a Double National race at Roebling Road .
