Charleston, SC: The MINI of Charleston Race team has completed the month of March in a victorious fashion! After a disappointing finish at Roebling Road earlier this month, the team rebounded to post a dominating performance at the Road Atlanta SCCA National last weekend. Roebling found the team MINI Cooper S on the pole for the start of the race and traded the lead back and forth between MINI of Charleston driver Brad Davis and 2 time SCCA National Champion Joel Lipperini. While running 2nd and planning a last challenge with only 4 laps remaining, the dreaded Roebling curse of a blistered tire dropped Brad to a 4th place finish. Robbie Davis finished 6th after a race long contest with John Costello of Pennsylvania.
Saturday’s Qualifying session at Road Atlanta found Brad Davis again the fastest qualifier for the third straight event. During Sunday’s race, the MINI and driver never put a wheel out of place and lead from start to finish, posting Brad’s 2nd National win of the season. In the process, the MINI Cooper S broke the Showroom Stock C lap record. Robbie Davis driving the MINI of Charleston Counterfeit MINI, improved on his 5th place qualifying time and moved up to record his first National podium finish, in third. Second place, sandwiched between the Davis Father and Son team was Sam Ryan of White Haven, Pa.
Adding to his two poles and a victory in March, Brad also became a published author, as the MINI enthusiast magazine MC2, printed Brad’s article about driving in the MIN World Challenge Race last year in Italy. MC2 is available at Barnes and Noble bookstores.
