Beating the Competition

Quite a busy and successful month!  In the month of June, the MINI of Charleston Solo Team repeatedly trashed the competition.  Mark Chiles, driving his MINI Cooper, won the H Stock class in 2 events during June, dominating at the Toledo National Tour event and the Oscoda, Michigan Pro Solo event.  Jeff Jacobs’ MINI Cooper S won G Stock twice; at Oscoda with Jeff at the wheel and in Toledo with GH Sharp driving after severe weather grounded Jeff in Philadelphia.  The team heads to Peru , Indiana this weekend, for another National Tour event, as the team to beat in two very competitive classes.  Mark and Jeff’s cars are featured in a website for the brand of wheels they compete on.

On the road racing side, the new ’05 MINI Cooper S is on the way from MINI headquarters.  But since Brad is in a tight race for the points lead, he hurriedly bought another MINI from a “friend” to race at Road Atlanta in June and Roebling Road this weekend.  However on closer examination, the MINI turned out to be a Counterfeit.  Luckily no other MINIs showed up and Brad is currently leading the South East Division points with his 2nd place finish the beginning of the month at Road Atlanta.  The team should have the new MINI Cooper S ready to go for the final regular season race August 6 & 7 at Virginia International Raceway and then heads to Mid-Ohio for the National Championship.  If you’re not familiar with the Counterfeit MINI problem and not a card carrying member of CHEP or the Counter Counterfeit Commission, take a few minutes to check out this website

Other good news received in June is that MINI of Charleston driver and Executive General Manager Brad Davis has been selected to be one of the two drivers to represent the USA at the International MINI Challenge World Championship being held in October.  As part of the MINI United International MINI event, MINI drivers from all over the world will compete in John Cooper Works identically prepared MINI Cooper S race cars to race for the world championship.  The event will be held at Misano , Italy October 28th-30th.  Over 25 pit crew offers have already been received and turned down.  For more info on the event, go to:
